Juno Beach is a seaside community in Palm Beach County comprised of 2.72 square miles on the barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal.  Nestled between West Palm Beach and Jupiter, residents enjoy a laid-back Old Florida lifestyle with proximity to all the amenities afforded to big city dwellers.  As of the 2020 census, Juno Beach had a population of 3,718. Lifestyle

If you love being on the water, Juno Beach may just be the perfect place to retire in Florida. This town offers great swimming, surfing, diving, fishing, and marine life encounters. With the tropical gulf stream flowing just offshore, the beaches offer clear pristine water ideal for watersports. Most of the year, the ocean is too calm for surfing in South Florida, but Juno Beach offers some of the most consistent all-year wave action in the region. For those that prefer the view underwater, Area 51 is a deep drift dive off of Juno Beach that features a fractured reef wall that attracts a diverse array of marine life, especially lemon sharks. If you would rather encounter sharks from a safe distance, you're in luck. The Juno Beach Pier is a prime location for watching marine life drift by in the clear waters or for fishing with a breathtaking sunrise as your backdrop. Juno Beach is also home to one of the world's most concentrated t sea turtle nesting grounds from May to October. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center, a non-profit sea turtle hospital and education center, gives visitors the opportunity to learn all about ocean conservation through interactive tours.

After a long day on the water, have a surprising number of dining options for such a small town. Head over to Ke'e Grill for fresh, locally-caught seafood and Hawaiin-inspired cocktails in a casual atmosphere with tropical decor. The Thirsty Turtle is a hotspot for happy hour where locals meet for a burger and a beer over some friendly conversation. If you are in the mood for something a little fancier, head on over to West Palm Beach's Leopard Lounge & Restaurant for a true fine dining experience in an elegant dining room that will transport you back to the gilded age while sampling wine from their South African vineyard, Bouchard Finlayson. If you are craving a little nightlife, Clematis Street in West Palm Beach offers a wide range of nightclubs and bars. Here you will find everything from Salsa dancing on a rooftop overlooking the iconic WPB skyline to neon-lit dancefloors with bottle service.

History

Before the Intracoastal Waterway was dredged on the west side of Juno Beach, this community was referred to simply as Juno, named after Jupiter's wife, the ancient Roman goddess.  Juno served as a terminal between the Indian River and the Jupiter Inlet.  At this time, people and goods were transported through Juno to Lake Worth via the "Celestial Railway" that also stopped at Jupiter and loading platforms called Mars and Venus.  When Henry Flagler completed the Florida East Coast Railway in 1894, the Celestrial Railway went out of business.  Flagler's railway was positioned more than a mile outside of Juno and this once important hub became mostly deserted.

In 1929 the roots of future development were planted in this seaside community when E.F. Hutton contracted Donald Ross to design the Seminole Golf Club.  This popular golf club attracted new residents and helped make Juno Beach the highly rated golfing destination that it is today.  In fact, the Seminole Golf Club is still in operation and was ranked #11 on Golf Digest's America's Greatest Golf Courses of 2021-2022.  In 1946 Bessemer Properties platted a subdivision near the famous golf course and built an ocean pier that spurred even further development.

On June 4th, 1953, the Town of Juno Beach was incorporated.  At that time, the community had 130 residents and 1,500 seasonal visitors.  The 1960s brought a great deal of condo development followed by commercial investments in the 1980s when Florida Power and Light set their headquarters in this seaside town.  According to the town's website, the assessed value of Juno Beach rose from $50 million to $400 million from 1980 to 1990.  Today Juno Beach continues to attract new residents and business investments.  This thriving community is governed by a town council that appoints a town manager to oversee daily administrative duties.  With efficient government and a plethora of amenities for an active lifestyle, Juno Beach is a great place to retire in Florida.
